One of the only apps that teaches both Hiragana and Katakana. The methods of testing are also very thorough - other apps dont test your speed or stroke order, and Ive found both to be incredibly useful. You can also test yourself on Hiragana and Katakana at the same time, which is nice.
Being timed on recognition REALLY helps reading speed, and it keeps you conscious on how instinctively youre able to recognize characters. Likewise, being tested on stroke order makes writing a lot easier to tackle. (and by writing the characters, its much easier to memorize them more thoroughly)
I will say, however, that using iKana in conjunction with other kana apps would be very wise. There are certain (very popular) apps out there that encourage memorization through association with familiar pictures and phrases, and I suggest using them as well.
A+ app.
