iKana - Hiragana and Katakana App Reviews

This is rather cool, and it works! Great job!

Why you add a sound when you display a card quizz? With an option to hide kana, this could be great! With sound and without the stupid message (see below) this application must get 5 stars! Also, since you asked money for tour application you cannot write this in your application notes: "IKANA TOUCH IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS.... no waranty..."!!!!

Normalerweise schreibe ich kaum Bewertungen, aber diese App ist super. Ich habe noch Probleme mit den Kataganas aber mit dieser App bin ich zuversichtlich. Gerade mehrere Zeichen zusammen wie tschu sind schwierig aber hier sind sie mit aufgeführt. Ich hoffe das auch I-Kanji auf den Ipod kommt. Usually I´m not the guy writing comments, but in this case I have to. In my opinion the perfect app for learning the basic alphabets of the japanese language. I hope IKanji will be converted for the ipod too!!!

The app itself is really good, but unfortunately, the latest update broke some core functions of the app! The select for practice section became useless as no matter which Hiragana you pick, the assessment will always show all 46 Hiragana. And also the writing practice is no longer usable! :( Please fix these bugs soon, Im just about to learn Japanese and your app has been a great help so far!

This is a fantastic app for learning the Japanese alphabet. Top marks for the clean design, clear audio, tests, and a good looking icon. More random vocab under each letter would be nice.

A near perfect iPhone app. Beautiful design, excellent functionality. All iPhone apps should be this nice.

I recommend this to anyone whos learning kana. Its the best learning tool that I could find in any platform.

I love all the options and how the software was made. Its very easy to use. The ipod touch is perfect for this application since you use your finger to trace the kanas! Would be great if you guys add all the kanjis too, or maybe you could do IKanji touch? I would defeinitely buy it! Another great option would be to add some more vocabulary and practice with complete words. Keep up the good work!

Still a great app, but missing the extremely helpful kana memorization hints present in the OS X version of the program. Hopefully those will be brought back...

Very well designed flash card testing app, with the ability to create custom practice sets, review the kana you have trouble with, etc. I would like to see a mnemonic hint for memorizing some of the kana, but that would just be icing on the cake. This stands as an excellent app as is.

Ive been having a lot of fun with this app but noticed that when clicking on some of the character images the app will crash, it doesnt seem to happen on the same one each time. Other than that. A very nice and interesting app.

Great for reviewing the kana on the go. Not as extensive as the PC version but still very useful(doesnt have memorization tips for one thing). I think this was made more for review rather than for studying kana for the first time. It crashed a couple of times, but it was while I was just browsing the kana, not in the middle of the quiz so no big deal.

Perfect for a Quick review

When I try to draw a kana character it like fans out and does not just make a straight line. I thought maybe it was my ipod but I tried the draw a stick man app and had no issues. Lame.

My wife is Japanese and this is step one to learning Japanese. Such a useful and great app for learning to write and hear the basic sounds of Hiragana! Thank you!!!

The practice exercises are really helpful. Very full featured. I would recommend a stylus for practices writing. I would easily recommend this app. My only hope would be for the addition to move the writing practice box to the far right or left to help accommodate a stylus.

Very good app. I have been using it for a couple months now, and already know all Kanas. Makes learning easy and enjoyable.

Very nice and nice looking software for learning Kana. If you are in need for speed learning, the kana speed test helps a lot in memorizing it. There is also writting test which helps you to memorize the strokes. I would really love a kanji version of this as well. A clear all "practice mark" and "recently wrong" would be nice though.

Very good & nice software

First off let me say that this is a great program. Easy to use and very handy for those of us whos memory needs that extra little help when learning a new alphabet/language. However, the reason I only gave the program 4 stars was the fact that the best part of the program on the mac/pc wasnt included in this app and that is the romanization. I found and still do find that this is very helpful when studying hiraga and katakana. If you can include this in the app then it would definitely be a 5 star!!!
